Columbia Park Tree Inventory

In August of 2018, Friends of Columbia Park organized volunteer groups on consecutive Saturdays to help Portland Parks & Recreation's Urban Forestry department survey the trees in Columbia Park. Arborists, team leaders and data collectors worked together to map, measure, and identify over 240 of the park's 925 trees. See pictures from our inventory below.

Follow the Story Map link below for a virtual tour of the park and to explore the results of our effort. The data collected will also be used by the city to create a tree plan that addresses the short and long-term needs and goals for all of Portland park's trees.

News:  Honeybee Rescue in Columbia Park!

After a Linden tree fell down during the recent storms and fires, several concerned neighbors reached out to a local beekeeper for help. Thanks to Alasdair from 18 Bees, the neighborhood, and City of Portland employees, this important Honeybee hive (preserved in its surrounding log) was successfully relocated to the Mt Hood area.

We are grateful and proud to know our community cares and that part of our fallen tree will continue to play a role in promoting the health and wellness of Oregon's Honeybee population.
